What you will learn in a 2-hour lesson
A standard session builds a solid foundation without overwhelming your muscles.
1. Beach warm-up & surf theory (15–20 mins)
- Safety briefing — protect your head in a wipeout, carry the board in the wind, navigate shallow water
- Ocean reading — rip currents, where waves break, timing the paddle-out
- The pop-up — prone to stand on dry sand before you hit the water
2. Whitewater practice & pop-ups (~1 hour)
- Paddling — body position to catch waves without nose-diving
- Catching waves — coach beside you in waist-deep water with a gentle push so you focus on pop-up and balance
- Stance — centre of gravity, soft knees, eyes forward (not at your feet)
3. Feedback & freeride (~30 mins)
Once you stand consistently, coaches introduce gentle carving (left/right) and independent wave catching.
